Teeth Whitening ®
As time goes by, our teeth lose their natural
brightness and appear aged. Like fine china, teeth become
dull and stained from a variety of factors including tobacco,
drinking coffee, dark soft drinks, red wine or tea. This is
where teeth whitening comes in. Throughout history,
people have sought new methods of teeth whitening. Ancient
Egyptians used a dental cream made from oxen hooves mixed
with burned egg shells, pumice and water for their teeth whitening
needs. Upper-class Romans added expensive imported urine to
their teeth whitening mix (unaware that it was the ammonia
molecules that were brightening their teeth). In the 14th
Century, teeth whitening was the most popular dental request,
after tooth extraction. The patient's teeth would be filed
with a coarse metal instrument, then washed with aquafortis,
a solution of highly corrosive nitric acid that whitened but
permanently damaged them.
Lucky for us, teeth whitening has advanced tremendously
since then, though it is still the most sought-after dental
procedure in the world. An estimated ten million Americans
will spend a whopping 1.7 billion dollars on teeth whitening
products and services this year. Teeth whitening is the most
common cosmetic service provided by our dentists, and there
are also a growing number of over-the-counter teeth whitening
products to choose from.
Modern technology offers us teeth whitening
without harmful side effects. Our Dentists offer teeth
whitening treatments in their offices, and also offer teeth
whitening treatments for you to use at home.

Teeth Whitening through Laser Bleaching
The quickest teeth whitening method is Professional
Laser Bleaching--you will have whiter teeth in just one hour.
Some of our dentists utilize the state-of-the-art argon laser,
which is a quick and safe instrument. Other popular in-office
teeth whitening procedures may use a different type of energy
source such as the diode laser, high energy arc lamp or halogen
lamp that has infrared light. These instruments all work well
with the bleaching compound to accelerate the teeth whitening
process. However, only the argon laser does not have the damaging
high energy UV rays, which can also overheat the tooth, causing
inflammation of the dental pulp tissue.
Estimated treatment time: Laser Bleaching
Teeth Whitening takes just about an hour and involves only
one visit to a dentist.
At-home Gel Bleaching Method of Teeth Whitening
In the privacy of your home, you can use one
of our home bleaching teeth whitening programs. Two splints
are fabricated from exact models of your teeth, and will hold
a bleaching gel. They will fit and bleach more precisely
than over-the-counter products. These splints are clear plastic
trays that should be worn according to a program designed
specifically for your dental condition. Your teeth will be
whitened over a several week period. Since you will already
have the bleaching trays, you can purchase additional teeth
whitening bleaching gel from your local dentist's office and
do periodic whitening touch-ups whenever you'd like.
Estimated treatment time – At-home whitening
involves 1-2 office visits.
Combination of In-office and At-home Teeth
Whitening
Not only will your teeth be whitened immediately
with the Laser Bleaching, but you can maintain your dazzling
white smile with the at-home teeth whitening treatment to
achieve a long term, long lasting result.
Estimated treatment time: The combination
teeth whitening bleaching treatment involves one or two visits
to one of our dentist's office.
